About
During Devon Open Studios Ian will be opening his studio space, located at our gallery on Fleet Street, from where he has been working and developing his creative practice for about 3 years.
We first met Ian when he was awarded a bursary by us to take part in Devon Open Studios 2021, setting up a temporary studio space at our Lucius Street Gallery. We thoroughly enjoyed having Ian with us hence the offer to him to move into one of our studio spaces at Fleet Street.
Ian's main practice at this time was the creatin of lino prints. Today, in addition to the lino prints, Ian creates detailed mezzotint prints, and large-scale pencil and charcoal drawings. His subjects include the wild, uncanny, and folkloric aspects of the moorlands and coastlines of Devon and Cornwall.
Ian has also recently become a member of the South West Academy.
Ian will be joined by fellow studio artists, Hannah Taylor, Olya Baklan and newly arrived, Cheryll Kinsley Potter, whilst in the main gallery we are holding our own studio sale of works that we have acquired over the last ten years through various initiatives or programmes of support that we have run.
There will be a launch event on Friday 6th September 6 -8 pm
