About
THIS WALK IS PART OF THE ENGLISH RIVIERA WALKING FESTIVAL
Cockington Country Park is a must-see experience!
Set back from Torquay’s sea front, it’s a quintessentially English village dating back over 1000 years. It feels like it’s frozen in time, with thatched cottages, bowl-shaped cricket pitch, historic Manor House, traditional English pub and artisan shops. Its 450 acres combines a beautiful mix of picturesque well-ordered garden landscapes, open parkland, rural countryside and substantial woodland, with plenty of room for dogs to explore. It’s claimed to be the inspiration for the village of St Marymead, the home of Miss Marple, which became the crime capital of England for 45 years!
Visit the picturesque 11th century chapel and rose garden
Enjoy some retail therapy around a host of artisan shops, including a blacksmith and the home of Torbay gin
Wander through its country park and admire the ornamental lakes
Look out for deer, squirrels and badgers
At the end of the tour, treat yourself with a cream tea in one of its quaint tea shops, or perhaps a drink in front of the fire at the cosy Drum Inn.
