About

If you’re looking for a quiet haven to spend the day, Maidencombe Beach is the perfect retreat. Far removed from amusement arcades and water parks, Maidencombe Beach is about one thing: relaxing.

Make your way through the rolling countryside, park in the small pay and display and head for the narrow path that leads to the beach. The steps are quite steep, so access may be restricted for some. When you reach the bottom you’ll realise it was well worth the effort, as the scenery is spectacular, with a sandy beach framed by towering red stone cliffs. If you need to cool off this is a great place to dip your toes in the water. Maidencombe Beach has excellent water quality and safe swimming conditions and has been given a Seaside Award (bathing/resort) to reflect this.

Explore the Coastal Path

Once you’re feeling re-energised, why not take a stroll along the cliff-tops to enjoy the views? The beach is situated on a particularly beautiful stretch of the South West Coastal Path, with a safe and well signposted path for you to follow. Along the walking trails you’ll find beautiful flora and fauna, wildlife and breathtaking vistas. If all that leaves you in need of refreshment, you can always refuel in the beach café afterwards.

Holidays are all about taking time to kick back and relax. If you’re looking for some peace and calm, then look no further than Maidencombe beach in the English Riviera, South Devon’s beautiful bay.

Type: Sandy, rocky with cliffs

Access:
Difficult and restricted access via a narrow path and set of steep steps which lead down to the café and beach area.

Dogs:
Welcome all year round.
