About Us

Living Coasts, Torquay's award-winning coastal zoo and aquarium, is home to a magnificent array of marine life from around the world. Set in a state-of-the-art naturalistic environment, you can journey from the South African coast to a mangrove forest and then onto a sunken wreck.

Whatever the weather there’s always plenty to do, mingle with the playful penguins, get up close with the otters and come face to face with the seals. In the aquarium, there are a selection of over 20 species of fish, including archer fish and rays. The Wader’s Estuary has a variety of birds and a fantastic back drop; you will see the wading birds, foraging in the grass and the shallow waters for insects.

Living Coasts offers visitors the chance to get closer to the animals than ever before; join the keepers at a penguin feed to see these incredible birds waddle around your feet.

As well as fascinating habitats and creatures, there are games, activities and panoramic underwater viewing areas. Play with the seals – wave ribbons and if you are lucky the seals will follow your movements.

With a host of events and activities throughout the year, you are sure of a great day out whatever the weather.

It’s not a bad venue to kill an hour. There isn’t a lot of animals to see and the glass tunnel underneath the water is pointless. Nothing to see. I’ve paid less for fully blown zoos with a vast... Read full review
