Family-friendly Torquay restaurants

If you’re visiting with kids you’ll be relieved that many restaurants offer children’s menus to take the hassle out of eating out. For a real treat that everyone will enjoy, head to the Aqua Lounge Torquay at the Riviera International Centre. Part of the leisure complex, enjoy a swim in the Waves pool (complete with indoor flume) and take advantage of the excellent value dip and dine offers. If they’ve still got energy for more play, there’s an indoor soft play area for the under 8s too.

Places to eat in Torquay with added entertainment

Head into the Rock Garden in Torquay town centre for delicious pizza cooked in the wood-fired oven or tuck into a juicy steak. You can sit outside in the garden to enjoy your meal al fresco. And on many evenings the restaurant comes alive to the sound of tribute acts performing on the restaurant’s own live stage – with artists playing everything from Motown to pop.

Fishy business

Torbay is known as England’s Seafood Coast. Just down the road in Brixham you’ll find one of the country’s busiest fish markets, landing delicious, fresh local fish from the fleet of day boats. Whilst much is destined to grace the tables of top restaurants around the UK, we manage to keep plenty to supply our local restaurants here too.

With close access to the freshest quality fish it’s little surprise that some of the UK’s top seafood chefs have set up restaurants here. Try No7 Seafood Bistro, which overlooks the harbour in Torquay to sample delicious local fish and shellfish. If you like your fish served with chips, book a table at Rockfish Torquay. Run by renowned fish chef Mitch Tonks, it is also located on Torquay’s harbourside where you can watch the boats bobbing for a full maritime experience.

Where to eat in Torquay to make the most of the view

Walk or drive a mile from Torquay harbour and you’ll come to the glistening waters of Meadfoot Beach. Sit out on the terrace of Meadfoot Beach Café Torquay to soak up the stunning views with your lunch or ice cream, then take a stroll along the sands.

If you want an idyllic, rural view then head to the picture postcard village of Cockington. Here you can enjoy a traditional Devon Cream Tea surrounded by flowers and thatched cottages at Weavers Cottage Tea Garden, an authentic 18th century thatched cottage with a beautiful sun kissed walled courtyard garden.
