#nationalburgerday

To celebrate National Burger Day, here is our pick of some great places to find a burger in the Bay. Grab your mates, loosen your belts and go for it! From Meat 59 in Torquay to The Curious Kitchen in Brixham, we’ve got you and your burger fix covered.

Meat 59, Torquay

The clue is in the name really… this place is all about meat, and they’re pretty damn good at it! They specialise in burgers so there's no wonder they’re on our list of places to visit on this sacred day! They have a solid menu, using local ingredients wherever possible and they have an ever changing burger special which is worth considering.

And whats even better, they’re offering 20% off all burgers for National Burger Day! (please note this was in 2018…)

Our burger recommendation - ‘Holy Smoker’

This is one not to miss. Breakdown: Smoked chipotle crispy shredded chicken, bacon, lime & coriander sour cream, gem lettuce, Monterey Jack cheese, extra chipotle sauce on the side!

Cantina Kitchen, Paignton

Cantina, located right next to the beach at Goodrington, is a great place to hang out with friends or family. An even better place to be on National Burger Day! This is a family fun beach cafe/restaurant with a really lovely atmosphere and extra smiley staff. They often have live music events on in the evenings and rumour has it there are some special burger deals on for this extra special day...Shhhhh!

Our burger recommendation - Well there's only one really, ‘Cantina Burger’

Devon beef pattie, toasted brioche, bacon, cheddar cheese, chipotle mayo, ‘slaw + chips

The Cow Shed, Brixham

Recently renovated and reopened the Cow Shed is just a few steps from Brixham’s beautiful harbour and is a bar and grill, specialising in exotic steaks, burgers and venison. That’s why they’re on the list! There is always a great buzz, including a small loyal local crowd. Roll your sleeves up and get involved.

What’s more is, they have a separate and dedicated burger menu!

Our burger recommendation - ‘The Shed’

6oz beef burger, shredded spicy bbq brisket with Monterey jack and burger relish. Say no more!

On the Rocks, Brixham

After running a successful restaurant in Torquay, the guys from On the Rocks decided to open up a second venture in Brixham, this time with an American twist. Much of their menu is cooked over an open grill, but their burgers are also pretty special!

These guys don’t just celebrate burgers on National Burger Day, they have a burger night! Every Monday night from 6PM they have a different burger special for you. Example could include;  The OTR Chargrilled Beef Burger, Streaky Bacon, Smoked Cheddar, Fairground Onions & Truffle Mayo, All served with Chipotle Slaw & Fries with a choice of Toppings and a glass of House White/Red Wine or a bottle of Corona or soft drink. Not bad ey!

Our burger recommendation - ‘Sticky Brisket Brioche Bap’

Pulled 12hr Smoked Brisket, Raw Slaw & BBQ Mustard. All the burgers are served with smoked slaw and french fries.

The Shack, Torquay

Coined as “The home of homemade burgers”, its hard to ignore The Shack in Torquay. They have an extensive and quality burger menu, offering up everything for meat lovers and veggies alike. The Shack says they are “serious about making and serving the best burgers money can buy”. All the burgers are hand pressed and made locally using only prime South West aged beef with full traceability. The burgers have no additives, no preservatives, no gluten and no dairy, just a little touch of Shack seasoning to provide that great taste!

Our burger recommendation - ‘Philly Chicken’

This shouldn’t be missed! 8oz Butterflied chicken fillet topped with streaky smoked bacon, Roasted red peppers, Philly cheese & chives. Served with shack salad garnish.

The Kents, Torquay

The Kents is a fantastic and welcoming family pub in the small area within Torquay called Wellswood. They have a whole mini-menu dedicated to burgers, named after the Head Chef, ‘Hoyle’s Homemade Burgers’

All their beef burgers are homemade in their kitchen daily, by Head Chef Steve Hoyle. They are served in a toasted ciabatta bun (unless otherwise stated), with chunky chips, dressed salad garnish and our very own homemade relish.

Our burger recommendation - ‘The Truffle Shuffle Burger’

Chargrilled beef burger, sautéed wild mushrooms, garlic spinach, Stilton and a truffle mayo.
