This is a 3-bedroom self-catering Grade II listed cottage on the outskirts of Paignton town centre (2.6 miles) and very near to the charming village of Stoke Gabriel in the county of South Hams (1.6 miles). The cottage was once a cider barn, hence the name ‘Wassail’ which refers to the ancient tradition of celebrating and blessing the trees that bear fruit at harvest time.
Wassail Cottage can sleep up to five people, and children and dog lovers with a maximum of two well-behaved dogs over 6 months old are very welcome. The converted property with its contemporary rustic-style interior has a lovely rural location which is perfect as a country holiday retreat for couples, families or a weekend getaway with friends. There are parking spaces for two cars on site and having your own transport is recommended due to the peaceful out-of-town location. Set within a stunning woodland setting, there are lots of delightful countryside walks nearby as well as all-year-round dog-friendly beaches for walks at Goodrington Beach, North Sands (2.6 miles), Elberry Cove (3.3 miles) and Churston Cove (5.3 miles).
If you’re planning to cover some of the English Riviera’s 22 miles of outstanding coastline and the South West Coast Path on foot, this could be the ideal holiday base for you.
Wassail Cottage can be easily accessed if you’re travelling down by car, as it’s just a 17-minute drive (8.8 miles) from the South Devon Expressway, the gateway route into the English Riviera. Our popular South West resort has excellent road connections if you’re travelling down from Birmingham and the Midlands (head for the M6 or M1 and then M5 southbound) or London (take the M4 from Bristol and then M5 southbound).
Wassail Cottage has luxury underfloor and central heating for that added cosy cottage feel, and a charming courtyard garden which is safe and secluded for children to play. The property’s tranquil location surrounded by beautiful Devon countryside as well as close proximity to the award-winning beaches, top visitor attractions, vast choice of fine dining restaurants, cafes and charming tea rooms in Paignton, Torquay (5.4 miles) and Brixham (5.1 miles), makes this a very popular choice with all year round visitors to the English Riviera and South Devon.
