About Us

Housed within a Grade II listed Italian-style Victorian villa, Vane Tower Penthouse Apartment is a luxury two-bedroom self-catering property with a private entrance. Built in 1872 and in a harbour conservation area, Vane Tower is an iconic landmark on Torquay’s skyline, standing majestically on Vane Hill.  It is situated in an elevated yet convenient position, only a short (eight minute) walk to Torquay harbourside, marina and town centre.

Off road parking can be accessed through a gated entrance and there is space for one guest vehicle. There is also on-street parking nearby. Torquay has two railway stations for guests arriving by train: Torquay station (1.8 miles) and Torre station (2.5 miles). The area has excellent regular bus services with Stagecoach South West being the main bus provider, connecting Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.  The nearest bus stop is located at Parkhill (0.1 mile) for Torbay Buses 64 service for the town centre and the 62 service runs from Torquay harbour to the quaint village of Cockington (3.2 miles), a popular, year-round visitor attraction.

The property sleeps four people and is split across three levels.  It is the perfect venue for a coastal holiday for families with children over five years, and couples looking for a romantic break.  This unique top floor accommodation has a pleasant open plan living and dining room with a large flatscreen TV and selection of games; a fully equipped kitchen and separate utility area with a washing machine.  The Top Tower bedroom can be accessed via a winding staircase, and has a gold King size bed. The Lower Tower Bedroom has twin beds which can be joined to make a Super King bed.  There is a main shower room and a second shower room.

Relax and enjoy the English Riviera’s mild climate in the pretty courtyard garden with ornamental steps and a rockery where you can enjoy panoramic sea views or a spot of sunbathing on the lower terrace with a seating area, parasol and sun loungers.

If you are planning to explore the English Riviera on foot, the famous South West Coast Path can be easily accessed.  The footpath runs along the 22 miles of the English Riviera coastline and through the UNESCO Global Geopark. The English Riviera is one of the UK’s top holiday destinations with 20 top beaches, 10 of which are award-winning.  Meadfoot Beach (0.7 miles) is a popular spot for fishing, rock-pooling, diving and wild swimming.  Anstey’s Cove (2.1 miles) is a hidden gem nestled between Torquay and Babbacombe (2.3 miles) and surrounded by dramatic rocks, limestone cliffs and stunning woodlands.  It’s a popular site for coasteering, sunbathing and wildlife photography.

The English Riviera is a Naturally Inspiring place to visit and there are many thrilling outdoor adventures to experience including paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing and cycling.  There’s some storage space at the property so if you are planning to bring your own equipment along please let the owners know when you book.

This self-catering accommodation is ideal for guests wishing to enjoy the English Riviera’s abundance of award-winning restaurants, family-run cafes and popular takeaways providing world cuisine dishes.  Known as England’s Seafood Coast, there are many places to eat serving first-class seafood, landed locally at Brixham (9.1 miles).  There are also over 100 pubs, bars and cocktail lounges to enjoy some locally produced beers, wines, ciders and speciality gins.

You can expect a home-from-home experience with fresh flowers, welcome treats and everyday basics such as washing up liquid, refuse bags, toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets provided when you arrive.  Complimentary toiletries including body wash and shampoo are supplied.  The owners can assist with a complimentary unpacking service if you arrange an online shop ahead of your visit.  Vane Tower Penthouse Apartment also provides beach towels, beach mats, buckets and spades, a picnic rug and a disposable barbeque to enhance your holiday experience – so there’s no need to worry if you forget to pack something.

Please note that due to the property’s listed status and elevated position, accessed via a stepped footpath and a steep hill, Vane Tower Penthouse Apartment is not suitable for those with limited mobility, wheelchair users, children under five years and dogs.  For peace of mind, the owners live in the main building and can be contacted should you have any queries during your stay.
