The Weary Ploughman Inn

The Weary Ploughman is an historic inn located in Churston at the heart of the stunning English Riviera and close to the pretty fishing town of Brixham. There’s easy access to the famous South West Coast Path, beautiful beaches and coves, Churston’s golf course plus the River Dart and Dartmouth and Dartmoor.

The restaurant is fantastic, and they offer a great range of locally sourced ingrediants. The fish and shellfish is landed at Brixham and our mussels usually come from the waters of Torbay or the Rivers Teign or Ex. Much of our beef, lamb, pork and chicken come from West Country farms. Our free-range eggs come from Marldon, just off the Torbay ring-road. Most of our coffee is from Origin Coffee in Cornwall.

The generously sized bedrooms are beautifully designed in contemporary style and have king sized or super-king sized double beds. The totally refurbished en-suite bathrooms have heated towel rails, toiletries and a hairdryer. There are flat screen televisions in every room, radio alarms with iPod docks and tea & coffee making facilities. The hotel has ample car parking and is easy to find on the A3022 Paignton to Brixham road just 2 miles from Greenway, Agatha Christie’s riverside residence.

You’ll enjoy the friendly atmosphere in the bar where you can relax with a pre-dinner drink, a cocktail or a glass of the renowned, locally brewed Bays Beer. Dinner is created by Head Chef, Chris Snowdon with freshly prepared dishes using locally sourced ingredients as much as possible. Much of the fish and shellfish is landed at Brixham and delicious mussels come straight from the clear waters of Torbay or the River Teign. Most of the inn’s lamb and pork, ham, bacon & sausages, come from Devon farms. Beef and chicken are from West Country suppliers and free-range eggs come from the nearby village of Marldon.
