About

A warm welcome awaits you from Debs and Mike at our small, family-friendly Bed and Breakfast in Bridge Road, a popular holiday accommodation spot in Torquay. Acorn Lodge caters for holiday makers, visitors taking short stays and those visiting the English Riviera on business.  Acorn Lodge is situated in a leafy conservation area, ideally located to access all that Torquay and South Devon has to offer.

Acorn Lodge offers 6 guest rooms with en-suite facilities, each having different arrangements varying from single occupancy to generous-sized family rooms, including a deluxe king room and a balcony. All rooms are serviced daily to a high standard to maintain cleanliness, comfort and relaxation. Guests can enjoy a range of toiletries, a hospitality tray, flat screen TV with Freeview channels, controllable central heating and free Wi-Fi internet access. Travel costs, high chairs, children’s books and games are available for families. We have 3 bedrooms on the ground floor, ideal for guests with disabilities, limited mobility or the elderly.

A full cooked breakfast is included in the price, with other options including gluten-free and vegetarian available. Earlier breakfasts and takeaways can be arranged for you with prior notice. For our younger visitors we supply colouring sheets and pencils for extra entertainment during breakfast time in the dining room, located on the lower ground floor. You can relax and enjoy a coffee or evening drink on the decked terrace area and take in the English Riviera’s delightfully mild climate. Guests can access the communal fridge, stocked with a range of soft drinks and chocolate and has an honesty box.

For visitors arriving by car there is a private car park with free parking available and some street parking. The car park is located at the rear of the building. Please note that Acorn Lodge does not have a lift, however we can provide assistance when guests arrive with luggage.

Acorn Lodge is a non-smoking establishment, but there are designated smoking areas located outside by the front gate and near the decked terrace.

We are within a short walking distance of the seafront (0.7 miles), Riviera International Conference Centre (0.5 miles), Torre Abbey Museum (0.4 miles), Princess Gardens, Princess Theatre (1.1 miles) and the town centre (0.6 miles). Torquay Railway Station (0.7 miles), Torre Railway Station (0.5 miles) and Lymington Road Coach Station (0.6 miles) are within easy access.

The English Riviera is home to some of the best visitor attractions in the South West including The Real Crime Museum and The Escape Room which are all located on Torquay Harbourside (1.4 miles). Kents Cavern Prehistoric Caves, a gateway site to the English Rivera’s UNESCO Global Geopark (2.5 miles); Babbacombe Cliff Railway (1.7 miles), Babbacombe Model Village (1.8 miles) and Bygones Museum (1.6 miles) are all easily accessible by car or by taking a short bus ride using the frequent No 12 and 22 services which run between Torquay and the neighbouring towns of Paignton (3 miles) and Brixham (8.2 miles).

Torquay is the birthplace of Agatha Christie, the world’s most famous female crime writer and there are many places with connections to her life and work.  Torquay Museum is home to the country’s only dedicated Agatha Christie gallery (1.5 miles) and the ‘Agatha Christie Mile’ is a must for fans. The one-mile self-guided walking trail celebrates the area’s connection to the ‘Queen of Crime’ and leads you to 12 places of interest and seven plaques to find along the way.

The area is also known as England’s Seafood Coast, home to the UK’s finest seafood and world-famous Brixham Fish Market, where over £40 million worth of fish is landed and sold at auction each year. Early morning tours are available and include a delicious fish breakfast at Rockfish for you to sample some of the freshest seafood available.

The English Riviera is a top seaside destination and a great choice for couples, group breaks, family holidays, weekend and short getaways.  We look forward to welcoming you to Acorn Lodge very soon.
