Music Festivals
Take a trip to the English Riviera, South Devon’s beautiful bay, and you’ll be introduced to some of the UK’s most stunning scenery, breathtaking beaches, finest food – and marvellous music. From folk and blues to jazz and pop, a holiday to the English Riviera could literally be music to your ears.
Live Music
As the inspiration behind Metronomy’s album The English Riviera, the area’s music credentials are climbing up the scale. There are plenty of live music venues in all the towns, and events throughout the year.
You’ll find traditional sea shanties during September’s Fishstock celebration of maritime heritage in Brixham, art deco jazz during the world-famous Agatha Christie Festival, and brilliant blues groups at the Torquay Blues Festival.
The Blue Walnut in Torquay is the perfect intimate place to discover up and coming folk music acts, and Paignton’s Spinning Wheel pub regularly hosts live bands.

For more modern music, check out the Brixham Hap’nin Festival for the best of the region’s rising musical stars as well as established acts. The Torquay Festival also showcases local talent with bands playing around the harbourside, and street entertainment and poets throughout town.
The Babbacombe Festival is a more traditional affair, with music from ukulele and oompah bands, and culminates in Hanbury’s Fish and Chips on the Downs Festival, where visitors can enjoy award-winning fish and chips while listening to jazz, acoustic, cabaret and country music.
