BrixFest is a new 3 day event that replaces the long running Brixham Heritage Festival. Join us and celebrate Brixham’s fascinating maritime past and our vibrant present day culture.
Enjoy some familiar events from the past, including the Heritage Sailing Trawler Rally and Race and the Sunday evening blessing of the fishing fleet and Saturday night Fireworks. Discover new activities such as the Brixham Inaugural Open 1 Mile Sea Swim from Breakwater beach. On Monday it’s children’s day with tons of interesting stuff for the little (and not so little) ones. All ages.
BrixFest is a true community event, organised and run by local volunteers for the benefit of every one in the town and for visitors too. All age groups can get involved in the fun, there really is something for everyone!
Saturday Highlights
Sea swim - A 1 mile sea swim fromBreakwaterBeach.
Heritage Sailing Trawler Race - See the vessels in all their glory before the event at the town pontoon, then watch the race around the bay.
Food, Drink & Craft Stalls - Lots of locally produced food, drink and craft stalls – enjoy what’s produced on your doorstep! Also sea food cookery demonstrations from local chefs.
Fireworks - The traditional Saturday night firework display from the inner harbour quay. We’ll be collecting donations so please be generous – there are no charges to attend!
Sunday Highlights
Tea Dance - Dance to a live jazz band under the old fish market.
Crabbing Competition - All ages welcome – prices for most caught and the biggest crab (by weight).
Street Party - Join us for traditionalDevon cream teas under the old fish market and celebrate her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.
Vintage Vehicle Rally - A parade of vintage vehicles drives through the harbour area and then converges at Breakwater car park where you can take a look and chat to the drivers, most of whom are in period dress too.
Monday Highlights
Monday is kids day!
Imagination Tent - A ‘yurt’ style tent where young ones can dress up and invent stories or even do your Mr. Bean impression!
