With plenty of things to see and do, holidays on the English Riviera, South Devon’s beautiful bay, are the ultimate getaway. Whether you have a family or are holidaying with friends, there’s the chance to indulge in a little retail therapy, ranging from big-name department stores to smaller, independent retailers.
Retail Therapy
For superb high-street shopping, Torquay has got it in spades. In addition to a busy town centre, Torquay is home to Fleet Walk and the Pavilion shopping centres. Fleet Walk is a vibrant focus for shopping, eating or just simply people-watching. There you’ll find shops packed with clothing from well-known brands as well as interior décor stores with a range of unique items. The historic Pavilion building houses some great speciality shops including candle-makers and Chinese herbalists.
Arts and Crafts
While Paignton also has its share of high street stores, it’s known for its large number of small, family-run shops which sell hand-crafted goods and antiques, as well as traditional seaside gifts.
Brixham may be smaller, but it’s still got plenty of shops. Here, you’ll find more arty items on sale and there is a popular craft market during the summer offering unique bargains, all locally produced. Babbacombe and St Marychurch will offer shoppers something a little out of the ordinary.
You’ll find a range of events and festivals happening throughout the year, where you’ll get a chance to pick up some great bargains. The Riviera’s Christmas Festivals are perfect for last-minute shopping and ideal for a winter break.
