The picturesque village of Cockington has been described as "the prettiest village in England". Its thatched cottages and chocolate-box landscape transport you back in time to a slower pace of life, and what better way to immerse yourself in this halycon era than by arriving in a horse-drawn carriage!
Carriage rides to Cockington run to and from Torquay seafront near the Livermead House Hotel regularly during the summer months, carrying you through the country lanes into the heart of the village. You can also pick up the carriages from the centre of the village to take you right to the front of Cockington Court at the heart of the Country Park, and back again.
The horses themselves live in stables at the rear of Cockington Court, and you'll be able to see them here when they're not working. Also behind the Court, you'll find contemporary arts and craft studios, and in the nearby stable block you'll discover local artisans: a glass blower, blacksmith and rocking horse maker amongst others.
Cockington Court is set in 460 acres of pretty country park, so there's plenty to do on this great day out for all the family.
