Built in 1926, the Babbacombe Cliff Railway has shuttled hundreds of thousands of holiday makers to and from Oddicombe Beach in over 84 years of service.

Surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery to be found in the UK, the Cliff Railway provides a vital and non-exhausting way for locals and holiday makers alike to soak up the peaceful atmosphere and take in the amazing views as they travel to and from the waters edge.

In 2012 a new Visitor Centre was opened on Oddicombe Beach. With free admission, it is full of fascinating information about the history of this wonderful funicular railway.

With a lovely cafe down on the beach, water sports and a tranquil bay, it's a delightful destination.

While you're there, make sure you keep your eyes peeled for our regular summer visitors, Sammy the seal and the dolphins.

Babbacombe Cliff Railway is also now an Approved Premises for weddings providing a small, intimate venue.

2013 Cliff Railway Special Events include:
Sunday 10 March - free flower for every Mum travelling on Babbacombe Cliff Railway on Mother's Day
Monday 1 April - Easter fun at the Cliff Railway and down on Oddicombe Beach
Sunday 16 June - Music and Merriment on Oddicombe Beach
Monday 15 July - St Swithin's Day Special
Wednesday 7 August - The John "Babbacombe" Lee Story. Hear the story and tour the site.
