About
Barclay Court Guest House is a friendly and relaxing guest accommodation in the heart of Torquay with great access to town centre amenities, high street shopping and visitor attractions. Barclay Court Guest House is housed within a charming late nineteenth century building with lots of original features and character as well as modern facilities catering to all your needs.
We are only a five-minute walk to Torquay’s main shopping centre. A fifteen-minute walk (0.8 miles) to the harbour and sea front and you will find picturesque sea views, family-run cafes, national brand restaurants, the delightful award-winning Princess Gardens and Rock Walk, and entertaining Princess Theatre. Catch the early morning sun in our south-facing conservatory dining room while we serve your choice of breakfast, full English or continental style with locally sourced produce. If you want to relax with a book or just take in the sun there’s our south-facing garden with delightful terraces.
We have a selection of guest rooms available including single, double, triple and a family room for four people (two adults and two children), all furnished to a high standard for your ultimate comfort and enjoyment. The rooms have en-suite bathroom facilities, LCD Freeview TV and DVD player ( DVD family room only), radio, hairdryer and hospitality trays. We have ground floor rooms (one single, one double and one triple room) with direct access to the terrace overlooking the gardens, and suitable for visitors with limited mobility. The rooms are serviced daily and maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. We have three rooms with interconnecting rooms, one with bunk beds and one with two single beds, perfect for family groups with young children. There are two superior rooms, one with a large corner bath and separate shower cubicle and one with a super king bed and interconnecting single room. Our room rates are charged on a per room, per night basis with a full English breakfast included. We serve breakfast in our open dining room overlooking the south-facing garden and has lovely views. We cater for vegetarians and gluten free diets, no advance notice required.
We welcome families and if you require interconnecting rooms please let us know at time of booking. We have some free onsite parking for guests travelling to the English Riviera by car. This is on a first come, first served basis and there is some free parking on the adjacent streets. We are within easy reach of Torre Railway Station (1 mile) and Lymington Road Coach Station (0.7 miles) with good public transport links and plenty of local taxi companies. We also have special provisions in place for cyclists, who can store their bikes in an onsite outhouse overnight during their stay.
Torquay has been named as one of the Top 10 seaside resorts for families to visit in the UK, according to a Day Out With The Kids survey. With award-winning clean, sandy beaches to build sandcastles including Torre Abbey Sands and Meadfoot Beach; crystal clear shallow waters for rock pooling, swimming and paddling; child-friendly places to eat fish and chips and ice creams; top visitor attractions such as Kents Cavern, Babbacombe Model Village and Bygones Museum as well as a designated UNESCO Global Geopark, there’s plenty to entertain all ages.
The English Riviera’s 22 miles of stunning coastline forms part of the South West Coast Path, running from Babbacombe in Torquay through Paignton (3.5 miles), Goodrington (5.2 miles), Broadsands (6.1 miles) and onwards to Berry Head Nature Reserve and Brixham (8.6 miles). The South West Coast Path is the longest marked footpath in the UK at 630 miles and it is a popular destination for visitors who enjoy being outdoors and taking in the fresh West Country air. The route can be walked in stages with shorts walks, gentle strolls and long stretches available to suit all abilities.
Barclay Court Guest House provides the perfect retreat after a long day exploring all that the English Riviera and South Devon has to offer. We look forward to seeing you soon.
