Local Produce

From our farmer’s markets and shops to our award-winning restaurants, there’s lots of ways to try Devon’s local produce on the English Riviera, South Devon's beautiful bay.

Occombe and Churston Farm Shops offer a wide selection of local produce, while more regional specialties can be found at the markets during the Torquay Food and Arts Festivals each year. Every September Brixham hosts the Fishstock festival, a celebration of the town’s links with the sea, and the area forms part of the South Devon Crab Festival at the end of the summer.

The area is of course famous for its seafood and many of the eateries will source their seafood locally. If you’re keen to catch your own food, try one of the Geopark Discovery Packages from the Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust - Mussels by Moonlight or Sea to Plate - and join in the fun of finding fresh, local fish. Other mackerel and fishing trips are available for independent travellers – try those offered by Greenway Ferries or Paignton Pleasure Cruises.

Got a sweet tooth?

If you fancy something sweet, visit the chocoholic's heaven at Cockington Court. Cockington Chocolate Company was started by chef Tony Fagan, and their chocolate lollies are perfect to keep the kids quiet on the ride home. And of course, don’t forget those delicious Devon cream teas!

Drink

The English Riviera is also home to Hunts Cider and Bays Brewery, creators of the ever-popular Bays Gold. Nearby vineyards include Old Walls Vineyard along the River Teign at Bishopsteignton, and Sharpham Vineyard along the River Dart.
