Pop in for a cream tea at the magnificent Grand Hotel on Torquay's seafront, and you'll be stepping into a place long associated with Agatha Christie. It was to the Grand that the newly weds Agatha and Archie Christie came for their honeymoon on Christmas Eve 1914, while Archie was on leave. He had to go back overseas the following day. Agatha married Archie in Bristol near his parents' home, but the couple decided to come back to Torquay to be near Agatha's mother at her childhood home of Ashfield.

Head chef at the Grand Richard Hunt has made numerous television appearances, and holds the world record for the largest scone.
