East Devon is a beautiful area of winding lanes and rolling hills, matching neatly with the idyll described in Agatha Christie's novels. Although it does not appear that any of her books were inspired by this part of the county, a number of television adaptations have been made in the area. The 1987 version of Sleeping Murder, with Joan Hickson, was filmed in the village of Lympstone, and the 2006 Geraldine McEwan version of the same novel was filmed just down the road in the seaside town of Sidmouth.
