Agatha Christie was baptised at All Saints Church in Torre, Torquay, on November 20th 1890 in the marble font that still exists today. The church was designed by John Pearson and built with money donated by Frederick Miller, Agatha Christie's father, so that Agatha could become a founding member. The Miller family worshipped every Sunday at the church, and always sat in the front row.

Apparently, if Agatha Christie was in the process of writing a novel with an ecclesiastical element, she would telephone the Vicar of Torre to seek advice.
